Youthlife’s Mind Body Fit Programme
Throughout 4 weeks in April 2024, 5 young women participated in Youthlife’s ‘Mind, Body, Fit programme’ created and lead by Youthlife counsellor Jeanette and, personal trainer and nutritionist in training Cliona.
The 5 young women aged 16-17 had been through Youthlife’s counselling services; each having experienced the bereavement, separation or loss of a significant person in their life. But they had more in common to be explored together in this 4 week workshop!
In a safe space Jeanette and Cliona lead discussions and activities to promote positive physical and mental health. The group discussed the role of diet, exercise and nutrition in maintaining the body and mind, and of course the importance of sleep! The girls discussed self-care and practiced mindfulness and yoga. Good mental health requires good relationships; the group considered what relationships they would like to work harder on and maintain, and those that are toxic, and worth stepping away from. Together the girls explored what causes stress and more importantly what helps them manage it!
