Over the next two years, Youthlife Therapeutic Team will be working with NorthWest Hip Hop and Amps Studio to deliver the HeratBeats Music Project. The new project will help young people with an interest in Hip Hop and rap music to safely verbalise difficult feelings, while creating something they can be proud of at the same time. Youthlife will provide young people aged 13-25 with a safe space to learn to write lyrics, access to a studio and opportunities to perform their music for their peers. Young people will follow a unique new programme developed by local Hip-Hop musicians and the Youthlife Therapeutic team. HeartBeats uses music to reach young people who might not respond as well to traditional talking therapies and works with them so they can develop their coping strategies, self-esteem and resilience. Access to the project is by referral only. Any Health, Social Care, Education or Youth work professional can refer a young person and referral forms are available from manager@youthlife.org or telephone 02871 377227. The HeartBeats Project is supported by the ARN Foundation.
